Adventistische Schriften über: "Quotes about Early and Late Rain"

Answer

The early rain refers to the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, which initiated the growth of the spiritual seed, while the late rain at the end of the age allows the harvest for the coming of Christ to ripen. Believers must already receive the early rain and grow daily in faith in order to recognize and be able to use the power of the late rain. This divine power is granted to bring the work of the Gospel to a close with great might and to prepare the church for the final test.

The Significance of Early and Late Rain

»As the “early rain” was given at the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at the beginning of the Gospel to cause the precious seed to sprout, so the “late rain” is given at its end to let the harvest ripen. Then we will recognize, if we strive to know the Lord: His emergence is prepared like the morning; and He will come to us like rain, like the late and early rain upon the earth.«

Prerequisite for Receiving the Late Rain

»Many have not largely received the early rain. They have not obtained all the blessings that God has made available to them. They expect the deficiency to be compensated by the late rain... They commit a terrible mistake... Only those who live by the light they have will receive greater light. If we do not daily advance in the illustration of active Christian virtues, we will not recognize the manifestations of the Holy Spirit in the late rain. It may fall upon hearts around us, but we will not perceive or receive it.«

Preparation for the Second Coming of Christ

»Under the image of early and late rain... the prophets foretold the outpouring of the Spirit. The outpouring in the days of the apostles was the early rain, and the result was glorious. But shortly before the end of the earth's harvest a special bestowal has been promised to prepare the church for the coming of the Son of Man. This outpouring is the late rain, and for this additional power Christians should send their petitions to the Lord of the harvest \"at the time of the late rain\".«

Maturation of Character through the Spirit

»Just as dew and rain are first given to cause the seed to germinate, and then to let the harvest ripen, so the Holy Spirit is given to advance the process of spiritual growth from one stage to the next. The ripening of the grain represents the completion of the work of God's grace in the soul. Through the power of the Holy Spirit the moral likeness of God in character is to be perfected. We are to be wholly transformed into the likeness of Christ.«

A Call to Prayer for Spiritual Power

»Ask the Lord for rain at the time of the late rain; then the Lord will make bright clouds and give them showers... The outpouring of the Spirit in the days of the apostles was the beginning of the early rain... But shortly before the end of the earth's harvest a special bestowal of spiritual grace has been promised to prepare the church for the coming of the Son of Man. This outpouring of the Spirit is compared to the falling of the late rain.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
