Adventistische Schriften über: "Quote on pastors failing to perform their duties while using tithes and offerings"
Answer
The provided quotes emphasize that ministers and Overseers must bear special responsibility for their financial duties. They warn against the misuse of tithe funds and emphasize that every cent of the tithe is holy and must only be used for specific divine purposes. Improper conduct in the management of funds leads to serious consequences for the congregation and the spiritual work.
On the Responsibility of Overseers in Handling Tithes
»This ministry is to be done unto God. The example of Christ must be followed by those who are His children. Relieve the physical needs of your fellow men, and their gratitude will break down barriers and enable you to reach their hearts. Consider this seriously. As churches, you have had the opportunity to work, as laborers together with God. Had you followed God's word and begun this service, you would have been blessed and encouraged and would have gained a rich experience. You would find yourselves as human agents of God, zealously advocating a plan of salvation, restoration, and redemption. This scheme would not be fixed, but progressive, from grace to grace and from strength to strength. Mrs. E. G. White, Cooranbong, N.S.W., March 14, 1897. Letters have been sent to me from Oakland and Battle Creek asking about the distribution of the tithe. The writers assumed they were authorized to use the tithe money for the expenses of the church, as these expenses were quite high. From what has been shown to me, the tithe is not to be taken out of the treasury. Every cent of this money is God's holy treasure, to be applied to a special purpose. There were times when little missionary work was being done and the tithe was accumulated. In some cases, the tithe was used for similar purposes as is now proposed. When God's people were called to perform missionary work in home and foreign missions and to send missionaries to all parts of the world, those who handle sacred interests should have clear, consecrated judgment to understand how the funds are to be applied. When they see ministers working without money, and the treasury is empty, then this treasury must be strictly guarded. Not one cent is to be removed. Ministers have as much right to their wages as the workers in the Review and Herald Office and the workers in the Pacific Press Publishing House. A great robbery has been committed against the meager wages of the workers. When they devote their time, thoughts, and labor to the service of the Lord, they should be entitled to sufficient wages to provide for their families with food and clothing.«
On the Correct Handling of Tithes by Clergy
»God has given special guidelines for the use of the tithe. He does not intend that His work should be hindered due to a lack of funds. To prevent haphazard work and error, He has made our duties in these matters very clear. The portion that God has reserved for Himself is not to be diverted to any other purpose than the one He has specified. No one should feel free to keep his tithe, to use it at his own discretion. He must not apply it to himself in a time of need, any more than he does it for what he considers to be divine work. The minister is to teach the people by precedent and example to regard the tithe as holy. He should not believe that he can keep and apply it at his own discretion because he is a minister. It is not his. He is not authorized to dictate to it what he feels he deserves. He should exert no influence to divert plans that involve the legitimate use of tithes and offerings dedicated to God. They are to be laid in His treasury and held as holy for His services, as He has ordained. God desires that all follow His arrangements. All who wish to work together must implement this plan, instead of daring to develop substitute plans.«
