Adventistische Schriften über: "Progressive Understanding of Truth"
Answer
God has provided that truth continually unfolds to His people, for He is infinite and the treasures of His wisdom can never be exhausted. Progress is the law of heaven, therefore believers must not remain in the light of past generations, but should constantly move forward through the illumination of the Holy Spirit. Whoever clings to old errors and does not walk with the increasing light loses connection with divine guidance and stagnates in his spiritual development.
The Inexhaustibility of Divine Truth
If created beings could attain a complete understanding of God and His works, then after reaching that point there would be no further discovery of truth for them, no growth in knowledge, and no further development of spirit or heart. ... God is infinite; in Him are “all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” And for all eternity people can continue to search and learn, yet they can never exhaust the treasures of His wisdom, His goodness, and His power.
The Law of Progress
Progress, not stagnation, is the law of heaven. Progress is the law of every ability of mind and body. ... In the spiritual life, as in the physical life, there should be growth. Step by step we are to move forward, continually receiving and giving, continually gaining a fuller knowledge of Christ, and daily drawing nearer to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.
Increasing Light Instead of Old Errors
Those who cling to old customs and venerable errors have lost sight of the fact that the light on the path of all who follow Christ is constantly increasing; truth continually unfolds to God's people. We must continuously move forward as we follow our Leader. ... We cannot be excused if we only accept the light our fathers had a hundred years ago.
The Role of the Holy Spirit
God intends that truth continues to unfold to His people even in this life. There is only one way this knowledge can be obtained. We can gain an understanding of God's Word only through the illumination of the Spirit by which the Word was given. ... “But when the Spirit of truth has come, He will guide you into all truth.”
Christianity as a Religion of Progress
God has commanded you to advance toward perfection. Christianity is a religion of progress. God's light is full and abundant and waits for our request for it. Whatever blessings the Lord may give, He has an infinite supply beyond that, an inexhaustible treasure from which we can draw.
Progressive Revelation in Eternity
And the years of eternity will bring richer and even more glorious revelations of God and of Christ as they unfold. As knowledge progresses, love, reverence, and happiness will also increase. The more people learn of God, the greater their admiration for His character will be.
