What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "Paul speaks in the Corinthian letter that we will be clothed with immortality. In Revelation it is spoken that we will see neither death nor suffering... Revelation 21:4. Some see this as a hint that we will then be immortal. We know that only God, Jesus are immortal. What Paul writes, also John in Revelation, speaks of immortality only in connection with the tree of life. Thus we will be immortal and thank and worship God eternally on every full moon, see Jessica Chapter 66."

Answer

The biblical promise of immortality is closely linked to redemption through Jesus Christ and the resurrection of the dead at His second coming. While humanity, through the fall, lost access to the tree of life and thus immortality, this will be granted to believers on the day of the resurrection, when the mortal puts on the immortal.

The tree of life plays a central role, as it is intended to preserve and maintain the immortality of the redeemed in paradise forever. Thus the obedient will live under the tree of life in imperishable strength and will experience no disease, no death, and no suffering.

Immortality through Christ and the Resurrection

»The apostle directed the thoughts of the Corinthian brothers forward to the triumph of the resurrection morning, when all sleeping saints will be raised, to forever thereafter live with their Lord. “Behold,” the apostle declared, “I tell you a mystery: We will not all fall asleep, but we will all be transformed; and that suddenly, in an instant, at the time of the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will rise incorruptible, and we will be transformed. For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality. When this perishable puts on the imperishable and this mortal puts on immortality, then the word that is written will be fulfilled: Death is swallowed up in victory. Death, where is your sting? Hell, where is your victory? ... But thanks be to God, who has given us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”«

The Tree of Life for the Preservation of Immortality

»In the midst of Eden grew the tree of life, whose fruit had the power to make life everlasting. Had Adam remained obedient to God, he would have continued to enjoy free access to this tree and lived forever. But when he sinned, he was cut off from the enjoyment of the tree of life and subjected to death. The divine judgment: “Dust you are, and to dust you shall return,” points to the total annihilation of life.«

Eternal Life under the Tree of Life

»Then those who have kept God's commandments will breathe in immortal strength under the tree of life; and through endless ages the inhabitants of sinless worlds will behold in that garden of delight an example of God's perfect work of creation, untouched by the curse of sin – an example of what the whole earth would have become had humanity fulfilled the glorious plan of the Creator.«

No Death and No Suffering Anymore for the Redeemed

»These, said Christ, are no longer the prisoners of Satan; I have redeemed them. I have brought them forth as the first fruits of my power from the grave, to be with me where I am, and never again see death or experience suffering.«
