Ellen Gould White
What does Ellen White write about...
Ellen Gould White über: "Paul says: Righteous before GOD is attained through faith, not through the law. What does that exactly mean????"
Answer
Righteousness through faith means that no one can stand before God by their own efforts or by obeying the law, because the law indeed reveals sin but offers no healing. We are freed from guilt solely by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ when we accept his merit in faith and rely completely on Him.
However, this faith is not merely an intellectual assent, but a transformation of the heart that leads to God's law being fulfilled out of love in daily life. The law is therefore not abolished, but written on our hearts by the Spirit of God, so that obedience becomes the natural fruit of a living relationship with Christ.
Justified by Faith in Christ
»The sinner can be justified only through faith in the reconciliation accomplished by God's beloved Son, who became a sacrifice for the sins of the guilty world. No one can be justified by any of their own works. He can be freed from the guilt of sin, the condemnation of the law, and the penalty of transgression only by the suffering, death, and resurrection of Christ. Faith is the sole condition under which justification can be obtained, and faith involves not merely assent but trust.«
The Law and Faith in the New Covenant
»Instead of establishing our own righteousness, we receive the righteousness of Christ. His blood atones for our sins. His obedience is accepted for us. Then the heart renewed by the Holy Spirit will produce the "fruits of the Spirit." By Christ's grace we will live in obedience to God's law, which is written on our hearts. [...] The Apostle Paul clearly presents the relationship between faith and law under the new covenant. He says: "Since we have now been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ." "Do we now abolish the law by faith? Far from it! Rather, we confirm the law.«
True Faith Does Not Free One from Obedience
»We do not earn salvation through our obedience; for salvation is the free gift of God, received through faith. But obedience is the fruit of faith. [...] The so‑called faith in Christ that pretends to release a person from the obligation to obey God is not faith but presumption. "For by grace you have been saved through faith." But "faith, if it has no works, is dead in itself.«
Righteousness as God's Gift
»It is impossible for a person to save themselves. Only Christ's righteousness can suffice for one's salvation, and this is God's gift. This is the wedding garment in which you may appear as welcome guests at the wedding feast of the Lamb. Let faith seize Christ without delay, and you will become a new creature in Jesus.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
