God is a God of order and requires of His followers that all worship actions be carried out with holy reverence and discipline. In worship, secular conversation, laughter, or disorder should be avoided, as these dishonor the presence of God. Both preachers and congregation members are called to prepare for the holy encounter with the Creator through silent prayers and a dignified demeanor.
Holy Reverence in the House of God
When worshippers enter the meeting place, they should do so with propriety and walk quietly to their seats. Ordinary talking, whispering, and laughing should not be permitted in the house of worship either before or after the service. Burning, active piety should characterize the worshippers.
The God of heaven is a God of order, and He requires all His followers to have rules and regulations and to maintain order. All should have a complete understanding of God's work.
When the blessing has been spoken, everyone should remain still, as if fearing to lose the peace of Christ. May all go out without pushing or loud talking, aware that they are in the presence of God... In the church building one should not linger to visit friends or to clap.
Some think it is wrong to pay attention to order in the worship of God. But I have seen that it is not dangerous to maintain order in God's congregation. I have seen that confusion displeases the Lord and that there should be order in praying as well as in singing.
Preachers should love order and discipline themselves; then they can successfully discipline God's congregation and teach them to work together harmoniously like a well‑trained company of soldiers.
Everything we do should be for the glory of God—every act of worship should be performed with an \"undivided eye\", a humble, contrite spirit, and sincere regard for propriety. \"Decent and in order\" is the divine instruction for all worship.
