Adventistische Schriften über: "Melchizedek is not Jesus"
Answer
The Adventist writings confirm that Melchizedek and Jesus are not identical. Melchizedek is described as a historical person who served as king of Salem and priest of the Most High God and blessed Abraham. He is regarded as a typological model of Christ, not as Christ himself.
Jesus is called a priest “according to the order of Melchizedek,” which expresses a similarity in priesthood, not an identity of the persons. Melchizedek combined royal and priestly offices in one person – a hint of Christ’s future ministry.
\n\nMelchizedek as a type of Christ
\n\n\n\n»In this great man the royal and priestly offices were united. [...] And therein he is an image of the one who “will appear a second time without sin for salvation.” [...] The union of the priestly with the royal office typologically portrays the Redeemer.«
Christ as a priest according to the order of Melchizedek
\n\n\n»There were two orders of priesthood, the Melchizedek and the Levitical. [...] Although the Bible says little about the Melchizedek order of priesthood, it was superior to the Levitical order, for Christ became a priest according to the order of Melchizedek.«
Melchizedek and Aaron as typological hints to Christ
\n\n\n»He fulfills both the priesthood of Melchizedek and that of Aaron. In some respects the priesthood of Christ resembles that of Melchizedek; in other respects that of Aaron or Levi. 1. He became “a high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” [...] Christ, like Melchizedek, had no priestly lineage or ancestry.«
Melchizedek as a typological model of the Messiah
\n\n\n»Sem or Melchizedek, a glorious and expressive type of the promised Messiah, ruled here as king of Salem – also a type of the promised king of Israel.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
