Adventistische Schriften über: "Medical Mission Work"
Answer
The medical mission work is described as the pioneering work and the “right arm” of the Gospel, opening doors for biblical truth. It combines the healing of the body with spiritual care and serves to break down prejudices and reach people in all social strata. Only through the inseparable connection of medical service and the proclamation of the Word of God does the Gospel become effective in its practical fullness.
The Right Arm of the Gospel
»The medical mission work should be for the work of the church what the right arm is for the body. The third angel goes about proclaiming God's commandments and faith in Jesus. Medical mission work is the lived Gospel. All branches of work should merge harmoniously to extend the invitation: “Come, for everything is ready.”«
Pioneering Work and Door Opener
»Medical mission work is the pioneering work of the Gospel, the door through which truth for this time should enter many homes. God's people should be true medical missionaries, for they must learn to serve the needs of soul and body. [...] A demonstration of the principles of health reform will greatly help to break down prejudices against our evangelistic work.«
An Inseparable Unity
»The gospel service is needed to give medical mission work consistency and stability; and the service needs medical mission work to demonstrate the practical impact of the Gospel. No part of the work is complete without the other.«
Living Gospel in Practice
»In new territories no work is as successful as medical mission work. It is the pioneering work. It is the practiced Gospel, the compassion of Christ that is revealed. May God grant that the importance of this work be understood and that new territories be entered immediately.«
Connection of Preaching and Healing
»The gospel service is an organization for proclaiming truth to the sick and the healthy. It unites medical mission work and the ministry of the Word. Through these combined forces opportunities are given to convey light and present the Gospel to all classes and strata of society.«
Preparation for the Second Coming
»Medical missionaries and workers in the gospel service should be bound together by inseparable bonds. [...] Through their united efforts the world should be prepared for Christ’s Second Coming. Through their joint work the sun of righteousness should rise, with healing under its wings, to illuminate the darkened regions of the earth.«
