Adventistische Schriften über: "Meaning of justification by faith"

Answer

Justification by faith is the work of God that breaks human pride and accomplishes for him what he could never do in his own strength. It means that God removes the sinner's guilt, frees him from the judgment of the law, and, through the imputation of Christ's righteousness, grants him a new standing before Himself. This experience is a genuine new birth and transformation that makes the believer a reconciled child of God who lives in peace.

Definition of justification

»“What is justification by faith? It is the work of God, to lay the glory of man in the dust and to do for man what is beyond his power. When people recognize their own nothingness, they are ready to be clothed with the righteousness of Christ.”«

God's way to the salvation of sinners

»Justification by faith is God's way of saving sinners; His way of convincing sinners of their guilt, their condemnation, and their completely destroyed and lost condition. It is also God's way of removing their guilt, freeing them from the condemnation of His divine law, and giving them a new and proper standing before Him and His holy law. Justification by faith is God's way of transforming weak, sinful, defeated men and women into strong, righteous, victorious Christians.«

Equating with the third angelic message

»It is affirmed that justification by faith is “the third angelic message in truth.” The words “in truth” mean factually, in reality, in faithful fidelity. This means that the message of justification by faith and the third angelic message are identical in purpose, scope, and results.«

Justification as experience and new birth

»“Righteousness from faith” is not a theory. People may have a theory about it and at the same time “be ignorant of God’s righteousness and try to establish their own righteousness.” “Righteousness from faith” is a process, an experience. It is a submission to “the righteousness of God.” It is a change of standing before God and His law. It is a regeneration, a new birth. Without this transformation there can be no hope for the sinner, for he will remain under the condemnation of God’s unchanging, holy law; its terrible punishment will still hang over his head.«

Pardon and imputation of righteousness

»“To be justified” means to be pardoned. To those whom God justifies, He imputes the righteousness of Christ; for the Savior has taken away their sins. They stand before the throne of God justified and accepted. They have crucified the self, and Christ remains in their hearts.«

Christ’s obedience in place of human failure

»The only way he [the sinner] can attain righteousness is through faith. Through faith he can bring Christ’s merits to God, and the Lord credits the obedience of His Son to the sinner’s account. Christ’s righteousness is accepted in place of human failure, and God receives the repentant, believing soul, forgives it, justifies it, treats it as if it were righteous, and loves it as He loves His Son.«

  • Justification through faith experience
  • Imputation of Christ's righteousness
  • Third angelic message in truth

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
