Adventistische Schriften über: "May I remarry if my husband has been unfaithful to me?"
Answer
According to the available Scriptures, adultery is the only reason that releases a spouse before God from the marriage vow. If a woman obtains a lawful divorce on the basis of adultery, she has the right to remarry whomever she wishes. Although civil laws may allow divorces for various reasons, in the light of the Bible one remains bound before God until unfaithfulness breaks the marriage.
Right to Remarry in Cases of Adultery
I saw that Sister Jones does not yet have the right to marry another man; but if she or any other woman were to obtain a lawful divorce on the basis that her husband was guilty of adultery, then she is free to marry whomever she wishes.
There is only one sin, namely adultery, that can place the husband or wife in a situation where they can be free from the marriage vow in God's eyes. Although the laws of the land may grant a divorce, in the light of the Bible, according to God's laws, they remain husband and wife.
Christ said: "... Whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, causes her to break the marriage; and whoever marries a divorced woman, breaks the marriage." Matt. 5:31, 32.
God's law and the laws of the land freed you from your wife, but you let this golden opportunity pass and voluntarily returned to your wife, thereby placing the chains of bondage upon yourself again.
