Adventistische Schriften über: "Location and Search for the Lost Ark of the Covenant"
Answer
The holy Ark of the Covenant was hidden in a cave by god-fearing men shortly before the destruction of the first temple, to protect it from the grasp of sinful people and from destruction. According to Adventist writings, it remains there to this day, undisturbed, and was never returned to the people of Israel because of their transgressions. While some sources speculate that it may be rediscovered in the last days to confirm God's word, its exact location remains hidden until God again receives His people in grace.
The Hiding Place in the Cave
These righteous men removed the holy Ark, which contained the stone tablets, shortly before the destruction of the temple, and concealed it with grief and sorrow in a cave, where it was to remain hidden from the people of Israel because of their sins and could not be returned to them. This holy Ark is still hidden. It has never been disturbed since it was concealed.
The Role of the Prophet Jeremiah
When Jeremiah came there, he found a hollow cave, in which he placed the tabernacle, the Ark, and the altar of incense and sealed the door. Some of those who followed him came to mark the way, but they could not find it. When Jeremiah noticed this, he rebuked them and said: This place shall remain unknown until God gathers His people again and receives them in grace.
Preservation from Desecration
Among the righteous who were still in Jerusalem and to whom the divine purpose had been made clear, there were some who were determined to keep the holy Ark with the stone tablets, on which the commandments of the Decalogue were recorded, out of the reach of reckless hands. They did so. With grief and sorrow they concealed the Ark in a cave.
Future Discovery and Confirmation
It is far more pleasing and satisfactory to assume that it was carefully preserved... and that it will be discovered and brought forth in the last days as a confirmation of God's word, when the skeptic and the biblical critic do their utmost to destroy it.
The Protective Hand of God
Solomon's temple was built, and the Ark was placed in the Most Holy Place, where it remained until it was taken by the prophet Jeremiah and hidden in a cave in the mountains before the Babylonian captivity, so that it would not fall into the hands of the Gentiles.
