What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "Let not your heart be troubled: How can we comfort the grieving family members of someone who has fallen asleep?"

Answer

Comfort the family with heartfelt sympathy: Jesus himself wept with those who mourned, and we can meet their grief with compassion. Point them to Jesus as their hope and comfort, and remind them of the promise of the resurrection and reunion. Also help them in practical ways and speak words that strengthen hope.

Jesus met the grieving with compassion

»He was ever helpful and always ready to speak words of hope and sympathy to the discouraged and sorrowing. […] When He met a funeral procession, He did not pass by indifferently. Sorrow filled His countenance as He looked upon death, and He wept with the mourners.«

Pointing to Jesus and the hope of the resurrection

»We express our sympathy to the children and family members who have been so deeply stricken by this loss; but we would point you to Jesus, your only hope and your only comfort. […] Let the words of the apostle Paul comfort you: “I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.” […] “Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”«

Supporting the despairing and inspiring hope

»God desires that the sick, the unfortunate, and those possessed by evil spirits should hear His voice through us. Through His human agencies He desires to be a comforter such as the world has never seen. […] The Lord will work through everyone who makes himself available to Him—not only to preach, but also to minister to the despairing and to inspire hope in the hearts of the hopeless. We are to do our part in relieving and alleviating the sufferings of this life.«

Comfort in the hope of reunion

»Thus, calm in the assurance of faith and in expectation of a reunion that will soon come and then last forever, they can bury the dead out of their sight—“earth to earth and dust to dust, in the sure and certain hope of a joyful resurrection and the life of the world to come.”«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
