Adventistische Schriften über: "Islam in the End Time – The Scourge of Christendom"
Answer
In Adventist prophetic interpretation, the Saracens and Turks (Islam) are traditionally identified as the agents of the fifth and sixth trumpets of Revelation 9. They are regarded as the "scourge" that came upon an apostate Christian church after it had transgressed God's laws and broken the everlasting covenant. These powers are called the first two "woes," underscoring their destructive force against apostate Christianity. Historically, the end of their power was placed in 1840 or 1844, marked by the conclusion of the prophetic period of the sixth trumpet. This interpretation was largely undisputed among early Adventist interpreters such as Uriah Smith and Josiah Litch.
Islam as the Scourge of the Apostate Church
»The Roman Empire fell, as it had arisen, through conquest; but the Saracens and the Turks were the instruments by which a false religion became the scourge of an apostate church; and therefore the fifth and sixth trumpets, unlike those preceding them, are not designated by this name alone, but are called woes.«
»On scarcely any other part of the Apocalypse is there such unanimous agreement among interpreters as there is regarding the application of the fifth and sixth trumpets, or the first and second woes, to the Saracens and Turks. It is so obvious that it can hardly be misunderstood.«
»Because the laws were transgressed, the statutes changed, and the everlasting covenant broken, the curse came upon the earth or land. ... the Saracens and the Turks were the instruments by which a false religion became the scourge of an apostate church.«
»The cessation of the power of the Mohammedans to kill is undoubtedly the closing event of the sixth trumpet, and if it did not take place in 1840, it will probably occur in this year [1844]. For if the 391 years and 15 days are reckoned from the fall of Constantinople in 1453, their sounding will end in 1844.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
