Adventistische Schriften über: "Isaiah 13 Exegesis"
Answer
In the writings of Isaiah the day of God's vengeance is described as a time when human pride is humbled and the glory of the Lord alone is exalted. The prophecies point to a final world burning that runs parallel to the judgment of the seven plagues and God's wrath, in which the earth is purified by fire. These events mark the end of rebellion against God's law and the fall of Lucifer, who once tried to raise his throne over the stars of God.
The Day of Wrath and the Cleansing of the Earth
The prophet Isaiah describes the final burning of our globe in language that is a complete parallel to that of the third angel in describing the punishment of the ungodly. ... Those who admit that Isaiah refers to the burning of our earth will find ample evidence below that this scene will ultimately end.
“For it is the day of the Lord’s vengeance and the year of retribution for the lawsuit of Zion. And its streams shall be turned into pitch and its dust into sulfur, and its land shall become burning pitch. Neither day nor night shall be extinguished; its smoke shall rise forever.”
“The pride of humanity shall be humbled,” Isaiah explains about the day of God's vengeance, “and the arrogance of men shall be brought low: and the Lord alone shall be exalted on that day. And He will completely do away with the idols.”
The prophet Isaiah looks forward to the time of Satan’s fall and declares: “How you have fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you have been cast to the ground, you who made the nations weak!” “You said in your heart: I will ascend to heaven, I will raise my throne over the stars of God.”
