What does Ellen White write about...

Ellen Gould White über: "Is the Adventist congregation becoming Babylon?"

Answer

The writings of Ellen G. White make clear that the Seventh-day Adventist community must not be called Babylon or a part of Babylon. Anyone who claims this is not working in the spirit of Christ, but assumes the role of an accuser of the brethren.

At the same time, it is emphasized that the church is measured by the light and privileges that God has entrusted to it. If the spiritual experience does not correspond to the received light, the judgment threatens to be found "too light".

It warns against weakening the distinguishing characteristics of the faith or entering into alliances with the world in search of success. The church is called to preserve its identity as God's people who keep the commandments, faithfully to the end.

The Seventh-day Adventist Church is not Babylon

»For years I have borne witness that those who claim to possess great light, yet still wish to tear down what the Lord has built through His human instruments, are in great error and are not working on the lines on which Christ works. Those who claim that the Seventh-day Adventist churches constitute Babylon or a part of it should stay at home. ... Instead of cooperating with the divine instruments to prepare a people who can stand on the day of the Lord, they have taken the side of one who is an accuser of the brethren and accuse them day and night before God.«

The Church will be weighed at the sanctuary

»In the scales of the sanctuary the Seventh-day Adventist church shall be weighed. It will be judged according to the privileges and advantages it has had. If its spiritual experience does not correspond to the advantages that Christ has bestowed upon it at infinite cost, ... the judgment will be rendered: "found too light." According to the light given and the opportunities provided, it will be judged.«

No compromises on faith identity

»There must be no change in the general characteristics of our work. It should stand as clear and distinct as the prophecy has established. We must not enter into alliances with the world in the assumption that we can achieve more thereby. ... No line of truth that has made the Seventh-day Adventist people what it is may be weakened. We have the ancient cornerstones of truth, experience, and duty, and we must stand firmly for our principles before the eyes of the whole world.«
