According to the present writings, God does not require His followers to prepare a “time of tribulation” for themselves through extreme frugality or artificially created duties. It is not necessary to weaken the body through excessive deprivation, because God will strengthen and prepare His people Himself in the coming time of need. Instead, believers should sustain their strength through nourishing food in order to be able to carry out their current work for God.
God prepares His people for the tribulation
»I saw that God does not require anyone to adopt a course of such strict frugality that would weaken or damage the temple of God. There are duties and requirements in His Word to humble the congregation... and there is no need to invent crosses and produce duties to torment the body in order to bring about humility. All of this lies outside the Word of God. The time of tribulation is immediately before us; and then bitter necessity will force God's people to deny themselves and eat only as much as is necessary to sustain life; but God will prepare us for this time. In that dreadful hour, our need will be God's opportunity to grant His strengthening power and preserve His people... I saw that it does not glorify God in the slightest if anyone from His people creates a time of tribulation for themselves.«
