Adventistische Schriften über: "Instructions on how to overcome sin and addiction and find a relationship with God."
Answer
To overcome sin and addiction and find a genuine relationship with God, the conscious surrender of the human will to Christ is the decisive step. By its own strength, a person is unable to break sinful habits and dependencies, but through the union of the weak will with God's almighty power a new life becomes possible. In daily fellowship with Christ and through practical cooperation with God's commandments, the believer receives the necessary strength to triumph over passions and unhealthy desires.
The Significance of the Will in Surrendering to God
»What you must understand is the true power of the will. It is the governing power in human nature, the power of decision or choice. Everything depends on the proper exercise of the will. God has given mankind the power of choice; it is up to them to exercise it. You cannot change your heart, you cannot give God his affection from within yourself; but you can decide to serve Him. You can give Him your will; He will then cause the willing and the accomplishing in you according to His pleasure. Thus your entire being will be brought under the rule of the spirit of Christ; your affection will be directed toward Him, your thoughts will be in harmony with Him.«
Victory over Addiction and Desire through Divine Power and Life Principles
»Those who place their trust in Christ should not be enslaved by any inherited or conditioned habit or inclination. Rather than being kept in the bondage of the lower nature, they are to master every desire and passion. God has not left us to fight evil in our own finite strength. Whatever our inherited or conditioned inclinations toward wrongdoing may be, we can overcome them through the power He is ready to share... A pure and noble life, a life of victory over appetite and lust, is possible for anyone who unites his weak, faltering human will with the almighty, unshakable will of God. Those who battle the power of desire should be instructed in the principles of a healthy lifestyle... While they rely on divine power to break the chains of desire, they should cooperate with God by obeying His laws, both moral and physical.«
Overcoming Substance Addictions in the Name of Christ
»It is not an easy task to overcome a deep‑rooted preference for narcotics and stimulants. Only in the name of Christ can this great victory be attained. He overcame the long fast of almost six weeks in the desert of temptation for humanity. He has compassion for human weakness... But it is up to the person whether Christ should accomplish for him what He is fully capable of. Will the person seize divine power and, with determination and perseverance, resist Satan as Christ gave him an example in His battle with the enemy in the desert of temptation? God cannot rescue a person against his will from the power of Satan’s cunning. The person must work with his own human strength, supported by the divine power of Christ, to resist and to win at all costs.«
Daily Connection with Christ for Life Renewal
»You are as dependent on Christ to lead a holy life as a branch is dependent on the vine to grow and bear fruit. Separated from Him you have no life. You have no power to resist temptation or to grow in grace and holiness... Many imagine that they must do a part of the work on their own. They have trusted Christ for the forgiveness of sin, but now they try to live righteously by their own strength. Yet every such attempt must fail. Jesus says, "Without Me you can do nothing." Our growth in grace, our joy, our usefulness – all depend on our connection with Christ. By having daily, hourly fellowship with Him – by abiding in Him – we are to grow in grace... You are to give everything – your heart, your will, your service – surrender completely to Him to obey all His requirements; and you must receive everything – Christ, the fullness of every blessing, that He may dwell in your heart, your strength, your righteousness, your eternal Helper – to give you the power for obedience.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
