What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "In which period can the life and ministry of the prophet Habakkuk be placed?"

Answer

The life and ministry of the prophet Habakkuk can be placed in the period of King Josiah's reign as well as in the years immediately before and during the beginning of the Babylonian captivity. He was a contemporary of prophets such as Jeremiah and Zephaniah and ministered in a time of unprecedented apostasy in Judah. His prophecies arose when the threat from the Chaldeans as God's judgment on the people of Judah was imminent, around the year 606 B.C.

Contemporaries of the Prophet Habakkuk

»At the time of Hulda there were other prophets in Israel: Jeremiah, Zephaniah and perhaps Habakkuk. ... At that time Jeremiah was certainly a prophet in Israel, ... Zephaniah also prophesied under this reign, but probably had not yet begun.«

Ministry during the Rise of Babylon

»He first appears as one of the noble captives of Judah, in the first year of Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon, at the beginning of the seventy‑year captivity, 606 B.C. Jeremiah and Habakkuk were still delivering their prophecies at that time. Ezekiel began shortly thereafter...«

Condition of Judah during Habakkuk's Ministry

»The author, the Judean prophet Habakkuk, was unable to understand why the evils he saw in the land and mourned over remained unchecked. ... The Chaldeans, “that bitter and hasty people,” were soon to come as a scourge against Judah.«

Encouragement in Times of Apostasy

»...with the prophet who tried to encourage Judah in a time of unprecedented apostasy, let us confidently declare: “The Lord is in His holy temple: all the world be silent before Him.”«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
