Ellen Gould White
What does Ellen White write about...
Ellen Gould White über: "In Moses 2:33 Moses says, "let me see thy glory" to God. Ellen White writes that God the Father is an impenetrable light, which even the angels on the throne hide their faces with their wings, because otherwise they would immediately perish. If holy angels hide their faces from God, why are there interpreters who assume that we, when we are resurrected to eternal life, can see God face to face? This refers to Revelation 22:4. Ellen White says that Christ is the manifestation of God's glory, and God the Father is closed."
Answer
The writings of Ellen White confirm that since the Fall there has been no direct fellowship between God the Father and humanity, because no mortal can see the unmasked glory of God and survive. All revelations of the divine presence have so far occurred through Christ, who moderated the Father's glory so that people could endure it.
For the time after the resurrection and redemption, Ellen White describes a change: the redeemed will have the privilege of an open fellowship with the Father and the Son and will see God "face to face" without a clouding veil. While prophets such as Moses could only glimpse a portion of God's glory through Christ, the sanctified in the eternal kingdom will be granted a direct view of the glory of His Face.
The Future Fellowship Face to Face
»The people of God are granted the privilege of an open fellowship with the Father and the Son. Now we see as through a dark mirror. We view the image of God reflected, as in a mirror, in the works of nature and in His dealings with people; but then we will see Him face to face, without a clouding veil between. We will stand in His presence and behold the glory of His Face.«
Christ as Mediator of Divine Glory
»In all these revelations of the divine presence, God's glory was revealed through Christ. ... Since the sin of our first parents there has been no direct communication between God and man. The Father has placed the world in Christ's hands so that He, through His mediating work, can redeem humanity. ... All fellowship between heaven and the fallen race has occurred through Christ.«
Moses and the Revelation of God's Goodness
»The unmasked glory of God cannot be looked upon by any person in this mortal condition and remain alive; but Moses was assured that he would see as much of the divine glory as he could endure. ... then the hand that made the world ... took this creature of dust, this mighty man of faith, and placed him in a rock crevice, while the glory of God and all His goodness passed over him.«
The Veiling of Deity in Christ
»Christ, the Light of the World, veiled the dazzling brilliance of His deity and came to live as a man among men, so that they could become acquainted with their Creator without being consumed. No person has ever seen God, except as He is revealed through Christ.«
