What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "I have gotten drunk again, but I repent and am afraid that the Lord has abandoned me. Please encourage me about God's forgiveness and help in quitting alcohol."

Answer

God has not abandoned you; your pain and remorse are a clear sign that His Holy Spirit is still at work in your heart and drawing you to Himself. Jesus sees your weakness, continues to love you, and is ready to forgive you gladly when you sincerely return to Him in prayer. By your own human strength you cannot break the bonds of alcohol, but God promises to give you His power and to stand with you in overcoming.

God has not forgotten you and gives strength for liberation

»Jesus still has compassion for you and loves you. There is a living reality in faith, and His holy influence is enough to hold you like an anchor. Dear friend, I have seen that you can change. Your mighty enemy has bound you, but shake off these bonds in the name of Jesus and be a free man. Master your actions, overcome your desire, sacrifice your idol. [...] You cannot overcome by your own strength. The Lord will impart His strength to you when you sincerely repent and earnestly seek Him. [...] The Lord says: Turn to Me, and I will turn to you and heal all your apostasy. [...] You are still remembered by your heavenly Father. You possess some noble character traits. Should all this be destroyed by bad habits? You are now weak, but God is waiting to make you strong.«

Jesus' forgiving blood and His support for the repentant

»I was shown a book in which your name was written beside many others. Behind your name was a black spot. You looked at it and said, "It can never be erased." Jesus placed His wounded hand over it and said, "Only My blood can erase it. If you from now on choose the path of humble obedience and rely solely on the merits of My blood to cover your past transgressions, I will blot out your transgressions and cover your sins." [...] I saw evil angels around you who tried to distract your mind from Christ, so that you would see God only as a God of justice and lose sight of the love, compassion, and mercy of a crucified Redeemer who wants to completely save all who come to Him. The angel said, "When anyone sins, we have an intercessor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous.«

Christ gives abundantly and helps in every weakness

»Christ is ready to receive all who come to Him with sincerity. [...] He is our only hope. [...] Only through His power can our hearts be kept daily in God's love. [...] The godless one may leave his way and the evildoer his thoughts; and if he turns to the Lord, He will have mercy on him, and to our God, for He is rich in forgiveness. [...] Christ has identified with our needs and is able to meet every particular need of our weakness.«

Come to Jesus as you are

»‘Come to me, all who are weary and burdened; I will refresh you.’ Faith seized the promise, and the joyful response sounded: ‘[…] I may come to Jesus just as I am, sinful and unholy, and He will not despise the penitential prayer. “Your sins are forgiven to you.” Even mine, even my own can be forgiven!’ A stream of holy joy filled the heart, and the name of Jesus was praised through hymns and thanksgiving.«

Repentance is the work of His Spirit

»Every longing for truth and purity, every conviction of our own sinfulness is proof that His Spirit is at work in our hearts. [...] When people, out of a sincere desire to do what is right, make the effort to improve themselves, it is the power of Christ that draws them.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
