What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "I don’t understand why Balaam sinned."

Answer

Balaam sinned because he coveted reward and honor and thus knowingly acted against what he knew to be God’s will. He tried to reconcile God’s command with Balak’s request instead of resisting temptation. When he could not curse Israel, he finally sought to lead the people away from God by tempting them into idolatry.

Greed and Disregard for God’s Will

»Balaam had once been a good man and a prophet of God; but he had fallen away and given himself over to covetousness, while still claiming to be a servant of the Most High. […] He knew very well that it was his duty to refuse Balak’s rewards and send the messengers away. But he yielded to temptation. […] The bribe of costly gifts and the prospect of advancement awakened his greed. He eagerly accepted the offered treasures and then, while professing strict obedience to God’s will, tried to carry out Balak’s wishes.«

He Planned to Tempt Israel into Sin

»Balaam loved the wages of unrighteousness and was determined to obtain them. […] Balaam knew that Israel’s prosperity depended on its obedience to God, and that there was no way to bring the people down except by enticing them to sin. He now decided to win Balak’s favor by showing the Moabites how to bring a curse upon Israel. […] Balaam’s plan was to separate Israel from God by enticing the people into idolatry.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
