What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "I call out to Jesus because I feel lost, wayward, and guilty because of my use of cannabis and alcohol, which I use to cope with pain. I fear that God no longer hears me, and I plead for forgiveness and help."

Answer

God has not abandoned you nor ignored your call; Jesus sees your deep pain, feels full compassion for your weakness, and continues to love you. By your own strength it is impossible to break the bonds of harmful habits and addictive substances, but if you sincerely repent, Christ gives you His divine power for victory. His mercy and His atoning blood completely erase every guilt when you place your heart trustingly in His hands.

Freedom from harmful habits through Christ's power

»Jesus still pities and loves you. There is a living reality in faith, and His holy influence is sufficient to hold you like an anchor. Dear friend, I have seen that you can change. Your mighty enemy has bound you, but shake off these bonds in Jesus' name and be a free man. Master your actions, overcome your desire, sacrifice your idol. ... You cannot overcome by your own strength. The Lord will give you His power if you sincerely repent and earnestly ask. ... The Lord says: Turn to Me, and I will turn to you and heal all your apostasy. Everything depends on the path you choose now. ... You are still not forgotten by your heavenly Father. ... You are now weak, but God is waiting to make you strong.«

Victory over intoxicants in Jesus' name

»It is not an easy task to overcome a deep‑seated preference for depressants and stimulants. Only in Christ's name can this great victory be achieved. He, in place of man, overcame the long fast of nearly six weeks in the desert of temptation. He has compassion for human weakness. His love for the fallen man was so great that He offered an infinite sacrifice to reach him in his humiliation and, through His divine power, ultimately raise him to His throne. ... Man must work with his human strength, supported by Christ's divine power, to resist and to win at all costs.«

Forgiveness and cancellation of guilt through Christ's blood

»Against your name there was a black spot. You looked at it and said, "It can never be erased." Jesus placed His wounded hand over it and said, "My blood alone can blot it out. If from now on you choose the path of humble obedience and rely solely on the merits of My blood to cover your past transgressions, I will erase your offenses and cover your sins." ... I saw evil angels around you, trying to distract your thoughts from Christ and lead you to view God as a strict deity, causing you to lose sight of the love, compassion, and mercy of a crucified Savior who wants to completely save all who come to Him. The angel said, "When anyone sins, we have an intercessor with the Father, Jesus Christ, the Righteous.«

Looking to the Redeemer instead of one's own misery

»When we look at our sinful condition and talk about and mourn our misery, the distress only becomes more tormenting and the pain increases. The sinner should arise in the power of Jesus; for by his own strength he can do nothing, and he should seize his freedom. He should believe that the Lord has spoken the truth, and trust Him, regardless of the feelings of the heart. The sinner says: I will turn away from my own misery, from the serpent’s wound, toward the exalted Redeemer who said, "Whoever comes to Me, I will not cast out." ... If you had to bear the guilt of your sin yourself, it would crush you; but the sinless One has taken your place, and although you do not deserve it, He has borne your guilt.«

The gift of forgiveness and new beginning

»By surrendering your will to Christ, you connect with the power that stands above all principalities and powers. You will receive strength from above that keeps you steadfast, and thus through continual devotion to God you will be able to lead the new life ... You long to receive forgiveness, to be cleansed and set free. ... You can never hope to secure this through your own efforts. But God offers it to you as a gift, "without cost and for free." It belongs to you if you simply reach out your hand and take it. The Lord says, "Even if your sins are as red as blood, they shall become as white as snow.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
