What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "I am currently caught in my OCD trap and keep feeling remorse again and again."

Answer

If you are stuck in an endless loop of remorse and tormenting thoughts, God invites you to let your spirit rest and simply trust in His love. Forgiveness and peace are gifts of God's grace that you do not have to earn through endless personal striving or constant repetitions. God calls you to trust His promises like a child, to let go of rumination and accept His peace.

Finding peace through quiet trust in God's promises

»You must let your spirit rest in God. Seek inner peace. Prayer alone is not enough. There is a great need to rest in God and to show trust in His Word by calmly trusting His love. Repentance is not the saving faith, but it is necessary for it. Repentance must precede saving faith. By calmly resting on God's promises, sweet peace will fill your soul. Peace will spring up in the heart that trusts in Jesus. You, my dear brother, truly want to know the way of peace, but you miss it because you do not maintain your trust in God and do not have that perfect trust that a child places in the promise of a tender, loving parent, saying: "You are mine.«

Allow the overburdened mind to come to rest

»Your mind was plunged into doubt, confusion, and despair until the brain was overtaxed and damaged. [...] Keep your mind in peace, in rest. Stop ruminating and straining your mind, and trust fully in God, who can and will help you when you trust Him. I saw that you fought with all your might to eliminate errors and reach the light. God accepts your efforts and will let His Holy Spirit rest upon you. Satan, as I saw, would unleash a flood of unbelief and darkness over you, but you must not linger in the darkness or speak about it. You must stand against it and speak of faith. Foster a hopeful spirit within yourself.«

Receiving forgiveness as a gift rather than through personal struggle

»The more you strive to escape, the more you recognize your helplessness. Your motives are impure; your heart is impure. You see that your life has been full of selfishness and sin. You long to receive forgiveness, to be cleansed and set free. [...] What you need is peace – the forgiveness of heaven, peace and love in the soul. Money cannot buy it, the mind cannot obtain it, wisdom cannot achieve it; you can never hope to secure it through your own efforts. But God offers it to you as a gift, "without money and for free." It belongs to you when you simply reach out your hand and grasp it.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
