What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "I am 14. My parents say that Jesus was rejected by the world. But I don't want to be rejected; I want to belong, have friends, be noticed and valued, and experience and discover things."
Answer
Jesus understands the desire for community, appreciation, and joy very well; He himself was lively and cheerful in His youth, and His companions valued His company. Yet He also experienced misunderstanding and rejection when He refused to follow corrupt customs or abandon God's standards. True belonging, deep support, and genuine joy are found in entrusting our lives to God, for He is closer to us and loves us more than any human friend.
Jesus in dealing with His youthful companions
»There were some who sought His company and found peace in His presence; but many avoided Him because they were condemned by His blameless life. Young companions urged Him to do the same as them. He was lively and cheerful; they enjoyed His presence and welcomed His willing suggestions; but they were impatient with His conscientiousness and called Him narrow and narrow‑minded. ... He was often asked: Why are you so intent on being so peculiar, so different from all of us?«
A friend who is closer to us than anyone else
»He loved to visit the house of Lazarus, Mary, and Martha, for in the atmosphere of faith and love His spirit found rest. ... Those who accept Christ are not left as orphans to bear trials alone. As members of the heavenly family He calls them to call Him their Father. ... Christ became our relative. Closer than father, mother, brother, friend, or beloved is the Lord, our Savior. We cannot fully comprehend this love, but we can know from our own experience that it is true.«
Joy and Strength for Youth
»There were hours of solitary prayer in which Jesus received wisdom and strength in His earthly life. May the youth follow His example by finding a quiet time for communion with their Father in Heaven during the morning and evening twilight. And throughout the day let them lift their hearts to God. At every step of our journey He says: “I, the Lord your God, take hold of your right hand … Do not be afraid, I will help you.” If our children could learn these lessons in the early mornings of their years, what freshness and strength, what joy and sweetness would be brought into their lives!«
