What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "How would Ellen White answer this interpretation of the great controversy, including Satan's accusations, Job, Jesus' three temptations and the testing of the professing followers of Christ?"

Answer

Ellen White emphasizes that from the beginning of the great controversy Satan has accused God's rule and law of selfishness and claimed that obedience is impossible. Through examples such as the testing of Job and the temptations of Jesus in the wilderness and on Golgotha, God's selflessness and the adversary's cruelty have been revealed to the whole universe. The professing followers of Christ will also go through Satan's accusations and trials, but will overcome them through Christ's righteousness and intercessory advocacy.

Satan's Accusation of Selfishness and the Example of Job

»Selflessness, the principle of the kingdom of God, is the principle that Satan hates; he denies its very existence. Since the beginning of the great controversy he has striven to prove that God's principles of action are selfish, and he deals in the same way with all who serve God. Refuting Satan's claim is the work of Christ and all who bear His name. ... Very early in world history the life story of a man is given, over whom this dispute of Satan was waged. About Job, the patriarch of Uz, the heart-searcher's testimony read: "There is none like him on earth, a perfect and upright man who fears God and shuns evil." Against this man Satan brought a mocking accusation: "Does Job fear God in vain? Have you not protected him on all sides and his house and everything he has?«

Christ's Obedience Refutes the Accusations of the Enemy

»Satan portrays God's law of love as a law of selfishness. He declares that it is impossible for us to keep its commandments. ... Jesus was to expose this deception. As one of us He should give an example of obedience. For this purpose He assumed our nature and lived our experiences. ... Therefore Jesus was "tempted in all things as we are." He endured every trial to which we are exposed. And He did not apply any power to His own advantage that is not freely offered to us. As a man He faced temptation and overcame it with the power given to Him by God. ... His life testifies that it is also possible for us to keep God's law.«

The Unmasking of Satan in Christ's Temptations and on the Cross

»In the confrontation between Christ and Satan during the earthly ministry of the Redeemer, the character of the great deceiver was unmasked. Nothing could have so effectively uprooted Satan from the affections of the heavenly angels and the entire loyal universe as his cruel war against the world's Redeemer. The bold blasphemy of his demand that Christ should worship him, his boundless audacity to lead Him to the summit of the mountain and the pinnacle of the temple, the malicious intent revealed therein to urge Him to plunge from the dizzying height ... all of this aroused the astonishment and outrage of the universe.«

The Testing and Accusation of the Believers in the End Times

»When Satan accuses God's people because of their sins, the Lord allows him to test them to the utmost. Their trust in God, their faith, and their steadfastness are rigorously examined. When they look back on the past, their hope declines; for in their whole life they can see little good. They are fully aware of their weakness and unworthiness. Satan tries to frighten them with the thought that their fall is hopeless, that the stain of their impurity will never be washed away. He hopes to destroy their faith so that they yield to his temptations and turn away from their loyalty to God.«

Christ as a Helper Against the Accusations of the Accuser

»By his own power a person cannot meet the accusations of the enemy. In sin‑stained garments, confessing his guilt, he stands before God. But Jesus, our intercessor, presents an effective plea for all who, through repentance and faith, have entrusted the preservation of their souls to Him. He represents their case and defeats their accuser through the mighty arguments of Golgotha. ... All who have put on the garment of Christ's righteousness will stand before Him as chosen, faithful, and true. Satan has no power to snatch them from the hand of the Redeemer.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
