Adventistische Schriften über: "How to Respond to Personal Attacks and Criticism in the Christian Spirit"
Answer
A Christian should respond to criticism and personal attacks with meekness, patience, and self‑control, rather than with retaliation or harsh words. The true nobility of character is shown by remaining steadfast amid insults and reflecting the spirit of Christ, who did not complain even under false accusations.
It is essential not to be discouraged by accusations, but to use them as an opportunity for self‑overcoming and character formation, responding to insulting words with kind answers. Rather than falling into disputes, one should turn to God in silent prayer to obtain the grace needed for a Christian response.
God’s Heroes of Self‑Control
»He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he who masters his spirit is better than one who captures a city... He has defeated the self—the strongest enemy a person must face. The highest proof of a Christian’s nobility is self‑control. One who can remain unmoved amid a storm of insults is one of God’s heroes... Whoever has learned to master his spirit will rise above the contempt, rejection, and anger we encounter daily, and these will cease to cast a shadow over his mind.«
Christian Response to Resistance and Accusations
»Even if you encounter the bitterest resistance, do not condemn your opponents... Think of Jesus and what He suffered for you, and be silent. Even if you are mistreated and falsely accused, do not complain; utter no word of grumbling; let no thought of blame or dissatisfaction arise in your mind... “Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult, but rather bless, for you know that you are called to inherit a blessing.”«
Christ’s School and Dealing with Insults
»Life is a school of training. In the world the Christian encounters adverse influences. There will be provocations to test temperament; and through meeting them with the right attitude, Christian virtues are developed. When injuries and insults are endured meekly, when insulting words are answered with gentle replies and oppressive actions with kindness, this proves that the spirit of Christ dwells in the heart... We should use these trials as God’s means to achieve decisive victories over the self, rather than allowing them to hinder or destroy us.«
The Power of Silence and Prayer
»Whenever minor annoyances and trials arise, pray to God in silent prayer for the strength and grace to endure them patiently. In silence there is power; speak no word until you have sent your request to the God of heaven. If you always do this, you will soon overcome your hasty temperament, and you will have a little heaven here, from which you can travel to heaven.«
Unshakable Despite Criticism and Reproof
»Proceed in faith and in God’s love, strengthen yourselves through faith, be courageous in the Lord, and always be joyful... No matter which course you take, there will always be someone who criticizes and rebukes you. Move forward in the fear and love of God... Do not allow grumbling and fault‑finding to weaken your hands or cloud your hope.«
Following Christ’s Example
»It is the “gentle answer” that “turns away anger.” Revenge has never defeated an enemy... Above all, let the life of Christ teach you. When He was reviled, He did not revile back; when He suffered, He did not threaten. You must learn this lesson, or you will never enter heaven. Christ must become your strength.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
