What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "How should the statement be understood that Abraham was revealed the cross of Christ in the promise and that it could only be received through the cross?"
Answer
Abraham was revealed the plan of salvation through the sacrifice of Christ and His death on the cross, which God especially clarified to him through the symbolic sacrifice of His own son Isaac. The promises to the patriarchs could only be received through the cross of Christ, because it removed the \"curse element\" of the law and made God's covenant with humanity officially binding. Abraham understood that his hope for forgiveness and the eternal inheritance rested solely on the coming Redeemer, whose suffering he was allowed to foresee.
The Opening of the Plan of Salvation through the Sacrifice
»The plan of salvation was revealed to him here, in the death of Christ, the great sacrifice, and in His coming in glory. Abraham also saw the earth restored in its Edenic beauty, which was to be given to him as an eternal possession, as the final and complete fulfillment of the promise.«
The Significance of the Cross for the Promises
»The curse that Christ became for us was the cross... Therefore we learn that the promises to the fathers were secured only through the cross of Christ. ... Through the cross Christ confirms the promises given to the fathers, so that \"the nations may praise God for His mercy.\«
Isaac's Offering as a Symbol of the Cross
»It happened, to imprint the reality of the gospel on Abraham's spirit and to test his faith, that God commanded him to kill his son. The suffering he endured during the dark days of this dreadful trial was permitted so that he could, from personal experience, understand something of the magnitude of the sacrifice that the infinite God brought for the salvation of humanity.«
The Confirmation of the Covenant through Christ's Death
»Although this covenant was made with Adam and renewed with Abraham, it could only be ratified through the death of Christ. It had existed by God's promise since the first hint of redemption was given; it had been accepted by faith; but when it is ratified by Christ, it is called a new covenant.«
Abraham Saw the Promise through Christ
»So Abraham, when he looked, saw through Christ; what Abraham saw, he saw in Christ; and therefore he thereafter saw everything he considered through and in Christ Jesus. ... Abraham, in his time, saw the day of Christ and rejoiced at this sight.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
