What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "How should one earn and manage money?"

Answer

Based on the writings of Ellen G. White, money should be earned through diligence, conscientiousness, and the wise use of one's talents, with waste of time considered dishonesty before God. Managing money requires strict thrift, avoidance of debt, and the overcoming of selfishness through systematic charity. Money is an entrusted talent that is primarily meant to help others and further God's work, rather than being wasted on personal pride or unnecessary luxury. ### Diligence and Conscientiousness in Earning

»Work hours should be used faithfully. Wasting time or material is dishonesty before God. A few moments are wasted here, a few there, which over the course of a week adds up to almost an entire day. "Time is money," and a waste of time is a waste of money for God's cause. When the heart is at work, it is performed with seriousness, energy, and speed. Everyone should be vigilant to see what needs to be done and swift in execution, as if they were working under the direct supervision of the great Master, Jesus Christ.«

### Money Management as a Test of Disposition

»Money is a constant test of affection. Whoever acquires more than is sufficient for his real needs should ask for wisdom and grace, to know his own heart and guard it diligently, so that he does not develop imagined needs and become an unfaithful steward who wastefully uses the capital entrusted to him by the Lord. If we love God above all, temporal things will take their proper place in our inclinations. If we humbly and seriously seek insight and ability to use the Lord's blessings correctly, we will receive wisdom from above.«

### Thrift and Avoiding Debt

»All must practice thrift. No employee should conduct his affairs in a way that incurs debt. Voluntarily plunging into debt entangles one in one of Satan's nets that he lays out for souls. The Lord has entrusted people with life, health, and reason. He has given them physical and spiritual strength; and should these gifts not be used faithfully and diligently to honor His name? Many spend the Lord's money on superficial pleasures and fail to bear the cross behind Jesus.«

### Education for Self-Reliance and Helping Others

»Let boys and girls thoroughly learn a useful craft or profession. Those who are taught to earn what they receive will be more likely to learn to make the best of it. And by learning to be self-sufficient, they acquire what not only sustains themselves but also enables them to help others. Show them that the religion of the Bible never makes people idle. Christ always promoted diligence.«

### Regular Saving and Prioritization

»Carefully setting aside a portion of the weekly wage and each week putting aside a specific sum that must not be touched should be your rule. Diligence in business, abstaining from pleasure, even hardships, as long as health is not endangered, should be willingly maintained by a young man in your circumstances. You are in danger of being overly generous when there is a call for resources. Selfishness is even involved; you want to be seen as someone who has abundant means. This weakness is not to be condemned, unless you are generous before you are just, and do not promptly settle your rightful debts.«

### The Purpose of Money: Service to God

»Whoever recognizes that his money is a talent from God will use it sparingly and feel it a duty to save so that he can give. The more resources we spend on pomp and self-indulgence, the less we have to feed the hungry and clothe the naked. Every penny unnecessarily spent deprives the spender of a precious opportunity to do good. It is a robbery of God regarding the honor and glory that should flow back to Him through the improvement of the talents He has entrusted.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
