What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "How should a mother prevent the tantrums of her little child?"

Answer

A mother should remain calm and composed during her child's tantrums, not scold the child out of anger, and avoid forcing calmness through shouting or physical punishment. Instead, she should use a gentle yet firm voice and wise restraint, teaching the child self-control and not allowing their stubborn will to prevail. Through patience, love, prayer, and consistent yet loving guidance, she leads the child to submit to the wiser will of the parents.

Restrain the child during a tantrum and teach self-control

»Mother's work begins with the child in her arms. I have often seen the little one throw himself and scream when his will is crossed in any way. This is the time to restrain evil tendencies and guide the spirit toward what is right. The child should be taught self-control, and in every effort to master himself, he should be encouraged.«

The mother maintains self-control and speaks gently

»In raising a child, there are times when the mother's firm, mature will meets the child's unreasonable, undisciplined will. In such moments, great wisdom is required of the mother. She must completely master herself and do nothing that awakens a spirit of defiance in the child. She should not give loud commands. She will gain much if she keeps her voice quiet and gentle. If she is a wise Christian, she will not try to force the child into submission. She persistently prays that the enemy does not achieve victory. Her patience, kindness, and words of wise restraint have accomplished her work.«

Train the child early to yield and do not give in to selfishness

»The first lesson they should be taught is self-control. Mothers, you should train your children to yield to your wishes. This must be achieved if you wish to retain control over your children and preserve your dignity as a mother. It is the greatest cruelty to allow false habits to develop, to place the law in the child's hands and let them rule. Children must early learn that they cannot be satisfied when selfishness dictates their desires.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
