What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "How long should one pray for a specific request?"

Answer

According to the available writings, one should not cease praying, but remain persistent—even if the answer takes time to come. God sometimes tests the strength of our desires through delays. We should continually bring our petitions before God and hold firmly to His promises until the answer arrives.

The texts explicitly emphasize that we often give up too early and that valuable things are worthy of strong, earnest effort.

Persistence in Prayer

»Do not cease praying. If the answer takes time, wait for it. Lay all your plans at the feet of the Redeemer.«

Do Not Grow Weary While Waiting

»After the prayer has been spoken, if the answer is not realized immediately, do not become weary of waiting or falter. Do not falter. Hold fast to the promise. Like the persistent widow, press your case, steadfast in your purpose. Is the object important and of great significance to you? It certainly is. Then do not falter, for your faith may be tested. If what you desire is valuable, it is worthy of strong, earnest effort.«

Patiently Continue Trying

»Sometimes answers to our prayers come immediately; other times we must wait patiently and earnestly continue to plead for the things we need. We should keep asking, even if we do not perceive an immediate answer to our prayers.«

We Let Go Too Soon

»We let go of the Lord's arm in our prayers too early. We should press our petitions higher and higher. God sometimes tests the strength of our desires by delaying an immediate answer.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
