Ellen Gould White über: "How does power come from God? Through knowledge?"
Answer
Divine power is received when the knowledge of God is united with true piety, daily devotion, and the work of the Holy Spirit. True knowledge, as revealed in Christ, brings about a character transformation and grants the entire being a spiritual power. This power comes to us through prayer, faith, fellowship with God, and the practical application of truth in service to others.
The Transforming Power of Divine Knowledge
The knowledge of God, as it was revealed in Christ, is the knowledge that all who are saved must have. It is the knowledge that brings about a transformation of character. This knowledge, when embraced, will recreate the soul in the image of God. It will grant the entire being a spiritual power that is divine.
Prerequisites for Receiving Divine Power
Knowledge is power, but it is only a power for good when it is united with true piety. It must be enlivened by the Spirit of God to serve the highest purposes. The closer our connection with God, the more fully we can comprehend the value of true science... for when it is placed under the full control of the Spirit of God, its talents are made most useful.
Power Through Prayer and Daily Consecration
Power will come from God to man as a response to the prayer of faith. ... How can we expect more power and that God will reveal Himself to people when His Word is treated carelessly and when hearts are not sanctified by the truth? ... We must have a converted servanthood, and then we will see the light of God and His power supporting all our efforts.
Cooperating with God and New Power
Those who cooperate with God will constantly receive a new supply of physical and spiritual strength. The inexhaustible stores of heaven are at their disposal. Christ gives them the breath of His own Spirit, the life of His own being. The Holy Spirit employs His highest energies to work in heart and mind.
Growth in Knowledge Leads to Strength
Through prayer, through vigilance, through growth in knowledge and understanding they are to be “strengthened with all power according to His glorious might.” Thus they are prepared to work for others. It is the Redeemer’s intention that human beings, cleansed and sanctified, should be His helping hand.
