What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "How does one perceive the Holy Spirit?"

Answer

One perceives the Holy Spirit by surrendering to Him in faith, earnestly requesting Him in prayer, and yielding one's own will. He does not work forcefully, but gently draws the heart to Christ, convicts of sin, and reveals the truth. His working is recognized by the fruits of the Spirit – by love, joy, peace, gentleness, and self-control. Whoever receives Him experiences a transformation of character and the assurance that Christ dwells in him.

The Spirit of Truth Dwells in Believers

»The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.«

Reception Through Consecrated Surrender and Prayer

»The Lord Jesus has pledged Himself never to disappoint a true seeker for the guidance of the Holy Spirit. He who asks for loaves at midnight to feed hungry souls will succeed. Ask and receive the Holy Spirit. Yet this Spirit can be received only by those who are consecrated, who deny self, take up the cross, and follow the Lord.«

Surrender, Faith, and Obedience as Conditions

»The Holy Spirit is not given by measure to those who earnestly seek Him, who stand in faith upon the promises of God. The Comforter is given that He may take of the things of Christ and show them unto us, and impart them with living power to the soul that is obedient, that has emptied itself.«

Perception by the Fruits of the Spirit

»But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, self-control; against such there is no law. If we have Christ dwelling in us, we shall be Christians at home as well as in public.«

Gentle Working on the Mind and Heart

»Through the ministry of angels the Holy Spirit works upon the mind and heart of the human agent and draws him to Christ. But the Spirit of God does not interfere with the freedom of the human will; it is a helper given that man may cooperate with the divine, and it is given to draw the soul, but never to compel obedience.«

Power for Witness Through the Outpouring of the Spirit

»You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses. With the reception of this gift all other gifts would be ours; for we are to receive this gift according to the riches of the fullness of the grace of Christ, and He is ready to bestow upon every soul according to its capacity to receive.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
