What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "How does one obtain certainty about God's love?"
Answer
Certainty about God's love is not attained through one's own efforts or presumed goodness, but through a complete surrender of the heart and faith in Christ's work of redemption. Only when a person gives up self and fully trusts God does this love arise in the soul and lead to inner peace. The continual contemplation of Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, as well as daily prayer and study of His Word, are essential to preserve the certainty of His love in everyday life.
Faith instead of personal effort
»Many make a mistake here. They hope to overcome through their own efforts and to obtain certainty of God's love through their goodness. They do not exercise faith; they do not believe that Jesus accepts their repentance and contrition, and thus they toil day after day without finding rest or peace. When the heart is completely surrendered to God, love arises in the soul, and Christ's yoke is gentle and his burden light.«
Contemplation of Christ and Prayer
»Let no one believe that he can obtain certainty of God's love without serious effort on his part. [...] The words and character of Christ should often be the subject of our thoughts and conversations, and each day a certain time should be especially devoted to prayerful contemplation of these holy topics. Sanctification is a daily work.«
Understanding the Depth of Divine Love
»Only when we consider the great plan of redemption and the blessings that are bestowed upon us through Christ can we recognize what this love means for us. [...] Even in the dark hours we can trust in God's love. The work of creation was a work of love; but God's gift to save the guilty and lost race alone reveals the infinite depth of divine love and compassion.«
Seeking God in the Word
»By approaching God with the full certainty of faith, our spiritual conceptions are enlivened. We then do not walk in blindness nor lament our spiritual barrenness; for through diligent, prayerful study of God's Word we apply His rich promises to our souls.«
Resting in the Divine Assurance
»Everything God could do, He has done to reveal His great love and mercy to you. He “loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone who believes in Him may not perish, but have eternal life.” Then rest in the certainty of God's love.«
The Cross as the Center of Love
»The revelation of God's love to humanity is centered on the cross. [...] When we look at the Cross of Gethsemane, we can only say: “God loved the world so much that He gave His only begotten Son, that everyone who believes in Him may not perish, but have eternal life.”«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
