Ellen White describes the new birth as a fundamental transformation of human character through faith in Christ, by which a person becomes a new creature. Former inclinations are reversed: pride gives way to gentleness, hatred turns to love, and the outward life yields to the inner spirit of the heart. It is a daily renewal in which the world is overcome and human nature is subdued.
