What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "How does Ellen G. White describe the Holy Spirit as a person, in one paragraph?"
Answer
Ellen G. White describes the Holy Spirit as one of the “three living persons of the heavenly trio” and as the “third person of the deity,” who works in the full fullness of divine power. She also presents Him as the personal representative and successor of Christ on earth, who, however, free from the limitations of human nature, can be present and effective everywhere.
Three Living Persons of the Heavenly Trio
»The Comforter, whom Christ promised to send after His ascension, is the Spirit in the full fullness of the deity, who reveals to all who accept Christ as personal Savior and believe in Him the power of divine grace. There are three living persons of the heavenly trio; in the name of these three great powers – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit – those who receive Christ by living faith are baptized, and these powers will work together with obedience.«
The Third Person of the Deity
»Sin could be resisted and overcome only through the powerful work of the third person of the deity, which should come not with diminished power but in the fullness of divine might. It is the Spirit who makes effective what has been accomplished by the Redeemer of the world. Through the Spirit the heart is purified. Through the Spirit the believer partakes of the divine nature.«
Christ’s Representative on Earth
»The Holy Spirit is Christ’s representative, yet stripped of human personality and independent of it. Burdened with humanity, Christ could not be personally present everywhere. Therefore, it was in their interest that He went to the Father and sent the Spirit to be His successor on earth. No one could then have an advantage because of his location or personal contact with Christ. Through the Spirit the Redeemer should be accessible to all.«
