Ellen Gould White über: "How did Ellen White interpret the seven trumpets?"
Answer
Ellen White referred in her writings to the interpretation of William Miller and his companions, especially regarding the chronological fulfillment of prophetic events in 1840 by the Ottoman Empire. She emphasized that this precise fulfillment of the Advent movement’s predictions gave a tremendous impetus and convinced many scholars of the correctness of the prophetic principles applied. At the same time, however, she warned to be cautious about presenting personal conjectures or unclear theories as established truths, because this could lead to disappointment.
Fulfillment of the Prophecy in 1840
Precisely at the indicated time, Turkey, through its envoys, accepted the protection of the allied powers of Europe and thereby placed itself under the control of Christian nations. The event fulfilled the prediction exactly. When this became known, hordes were convinced of the correctness of the prophetic interpretation principles applied by Miller and his companions, and the Advent movement received a wonderful impetus.
Warning against Speculation and Uncertainties
Mrs. White instructs me to inform you that she has no further light beyond this: that presenting uncertainties as certainties and pressing for mysteries as revealed truths is dangerous and leads to disappointment. She suggests building on the Holy Scripture as the true foundation, rather than on personal conjectures.
Focus on the Revealed Light
Please tell my brothers that regarding the circumstances they write about, nothing has been presented to me, and I can only convey to them what has been presented to me.
Danger from Unexamined Theories
Those who force theories about matters that are not revealed put themselves in danger of experiencing disappointment. "Hide yourself in God; hide your mysteries in God" – these words were repeated again and again during the night.
