What does Ellen White write about...
Ellen Gould White über: "How can sins be forgotten in heaven when angels have testified to them?"
Answer
The scriptures explain that although every act, every word, and every secret thought is recorded by angels with \"terrible accuracy\" in the heavenly books, these sins can nevertheless be erased. When a person sincerely repents and claims the blood of Christ as a propitiatory sacrifice, forgiveness is noted beside his name.
The process of \"erasing\" results in the sins no longer being mentioned in judgment and God no longer remembering them according to His promise. While the angels were witnesses to the deeds, the vicarious work of Jesus ensures that the sin entries are deleted and the character of the redeemed is found to be in harmony with God’s law.
The Accuracy of the Heavenly Records
»Against every name in the books of heaven, with terrible accuracy each false word, each selfish act, each unfulfilled duty, and each secret sin is recorded, together with every crafty hypocrisy. Warnings sent from heaven or neglected admonitions, wasted moments, unused opportunities, the influence exercised for good or evil with its far‑reaching consequences— all of this is chronicled by the recording angel.«
The Erasing of Sins Through Repentance
»All who have sincerely repented of their sins and, in faith, claimed the blood of Christ as their atoning sacrifice have had forgiveness entered beside their names in the books of heaven; since they have become partakers in Christ’s righteousness and their characters are found in conformity with God’s law, their sins are erased, and they themselves are deemed worthy of eternal life. The Lord declares through the prophet Isaiah: \"I, I am the one who erases your transgressions for My sake.\«
God No Longer Remembers the Sins
»There is no mockery, no holding the wicked way against the lost. The Son perceives that the past has been forgiven and forgotten, forever erased. And so God says to the sinner: \"I have erased your transgressions like a thick cloud and your sins like a cloud\" (...). \"I will forgive their misdeed and will no longer remember their sin\" (...).«
The Role of Angels as Witnesses
»Every deed, no matter how secret you may have kept it at the time of its commission, was open before God, before Christ, and the holy angels. A book is written concerning all the actions of mankind. Not a single point of this record can be concealed. There is only one provision for the transgressor: sincere repentance and confession of the sin, together with faith in the cleansing blood of Christ, will bring forgiveness, and forgiveness will be written beside his name.«
