Adventistische Schriften über: "How are health reform and Satan’s efforts connected in making people sick and degrading them through food in our time?"

Answer

The texts present health reform as protection from the dangers that arise when people give in to their appetites. Satan’s work is described as an attempt to encourage indulgence rather than self-denial and to keep people from reform; the consequences are said to be illness and the weakening and corruption of the mental and moral powers. The temptation to indulge the appetite is described as especially strong in the time before the end.

Health Reform as Protection from the Temptation of Appetite

»God has permitted the light of health reform to shine upon us in these last days, that by walking in the light we may escape many dangers to which we shall be exposed. Satan is working with great power to lead men to indulge appetite, gratify inclination, and spend their days in thoughtless folly. […] Intemperate indulgence weakens the powers of mind and body. He who is thus overcome has placed himself on Satan’s ground, where he will be tempted and troubled, and finally controlled at the will of the enemy of all righteousness.«

Appetite, Disease, and Moral Corruption

»We have not done what we might have done in regard to health reform. Everyone who teaches the truth should become informed on this subject. […] Those who profess to have the truth should become acquainted with the nature of disease, its causes, and its effects upon mind and morals. Intemperance lies at the foundation of the moral depravity of the world. Satan knows this, and he is constantly tempting men to indulge appetite, persuading them that indulgence is better than self-denial. Taste is gratified at the expense of calm nerves and healthy bodies. […] The indulgence of forbidden things has become a power that corrupts humanity, dwarfs the mind, and perverts the faculties.«

The Temptation Grows Stronger as the End Draws Near

»Man’s continued transgression for six thousand years has brought disease, pain, and death as its fruit. And the nearer we come to the end of time, the stronger and more difficult to overcome will be Satan’s temptation to indulge appetite. Health reform is to accomplish among our people a work that it has not yet accomplished.«

Satan’s Whisper Against Reform

»Some think they cannot reform and that their health would suffer if they tried to give up tea, tobacco, and flesh foods. This is Satan’s suggestion. These injurious stimulants are surely undermining the constitution and preparing the system for acute diseases by impairing the delicate machinery of nature and breaking down its defenses against disease and premature decay.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
