What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "Has God condemned me because I am suffering severe pain and using cannabis for pain relief? I panic because of the pain and feel guilty. I need comfort and affirmation of God's love as well as divine guidance in dealing with pain relief."
Answer
The Scriptures give the comforting assurance that severe suffering is not a sign that God has condemned you; trials are not for destruction, but the heavenly Father loves you and wants to draw you closer to His heart especially in moments of helplessness and despair. Jesus especially calls to Himself those who are wounded, exhausted, and heavily burdened, to give them His grace, soul rest, and His peace. Even though there is a call to be mindful in dealing with health laws and medications, you may firmly cling to the merciful love and faithfulness of God.
God's Love and Refuge in Severe Trials
»The fires of the refining furnace are not meant to destroy, but to purify, refine and sanctify. Without trials we would not feel our need for God and His help so deeply ... In the trials that come upon you I see the proof that the Lord's eye rests upon you and that He intends to draw you to Himself. Not the healthy but the wounded need a physician; it is those who are pressed almost beyond the limit of endurance who need a helper. Turn to the fortress. Learn the precious lesson: \"Come to me all who are weary and burdened and I will refresh you.\" ... Jesus loves you ... Your heavenly Father loves you and He will draw you to Himself through the trials that seem heavy to you.«
God's Grace and Presence in Intense Pain
»In the fiercest battles with intense pain I recognized the assurance: \"Let my grace be sufficient for you.\" At times when it seemed I could not endure the pain when I could not sleep I looked in faith upon Jesus and His presence was with me; every shadow of darkness receded a sanctified light enveloped me indeed the whole room was filled with the light of His divine presence ... I know that the Lord is kind and gracious and full of mercy compassion and tender compassionate love. In my helplessness and suffering His praise filled my soul and rested on my lips.«
The Assurance of God's Love Amid Suffering
»For months I had suffered such constant pain ... that I had no single joyful feeling but my spirit was constantly depressed. I had tried to serve God out of principle without feelings but now I thirsted for God's healing to experience His blessing despite the pain in my heart ... The prayer was answered and I received God's blessing and had the assurance that He loved me ... That night I went to rest without relief yet I left it with firm trust in God's promises.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
