God's law is unchangeable because it is an expression of His divine will and a copy of His character. It possesses an eternal validity that is as steadfast as God's throne itself, and remains binding for all people in all ages. While the ceremonial law ended with Christ's death, the moral law of the Ten Commandments remains in every jot and tittle as long as heaven and earth exist.
The Unchangeability of the Divine Law
God's law is unchangeable by its very nature. It is a revelation of the will and character of its Author. God is love, and His law is love. His two great principles are love for God and love for humanity. ... Such a law, which is an expression of the spirit and will of God, must be as steadfast as its Author.
God's law is as unchangeable as His throne. It will uphold its claims toward all humanity in every age, unchanged by time, place, or circumstances. The ritual system was of a completely different character and symbolized Christ's death as a sacrifice for the transgressed provisions of the moral law.
God's law in the sanctuary in heaven is the great original, from which the regulations inscribed on stone tablets and recorded by Moses in the Pentateuch were a flawless copy. ... Not a single command was abolished; not a jot or tittle was altered. The psalmist says, “Forever, O Lord, your word stands firm in heaven.”
There is no such thing as a weakening or strengthening of Jehovah’s law. As it was, so it is. It has always been holy, righteous, and good, and it will always be, perfect in itself. It can neither be abolished nor altered.
The cross of Golgotha testifies to the unchangeability of God’s law. This law is a copy of God’s character, the standard of character for all human intelligences. It could not be changed; not a single provision of it could be altered to accommodate humanity in its fallen state.
