Adventistische Schriften über: "Enter God's rest on the Sabbath"

Answer

In entering God's rest on the Sabbath means, through faith in Christ, to cease from one's own works and to receive His righteousness. True keeping of the Sabbath is not limited to a purely physical pause, but requires receiving God's spiritual rest in faith. Only those who are united with Christ in faith find His work and can truly enter the Sabbath rest prepared by God.

Finding God's rest and work in Christ

»No one can find God's rest who has not first found God's work; for “whoever has entered into his [God's] rest also rests from his works just as God rests from His.” And the only way any person can cease from his own works is by finding God's work; and God's work is found only in Christ through faith. Accordingly, it is not only written: “This is the work of God, that you believe,” but also: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” And “we who have believed enter into the rest.” Thus the Lord's Sabbath is the true seal of righteousness from faith in Christ.«

The spiritual character of Sabbath rest

»The Lord's Sabbath is God's rest: only those who find God's rest find the true Sabbath; and only those who keep God's rest can truly keep the Sabbath. True Sabbath‑keeping depends entirely on whether a person finds God's rest on the seventh day instead of his own… God’s rest is spiritual; only those who are spiritual can enter it, and only those who are of faith are spiritual: therefore only the one who is of faith can enter God's rest; only those of faith can keep the Lord's Sabbath.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
