What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "Ellen White on the question of who Samson's wife, the judge, was."
Answer
Ellen White describes that the judge Samson's wife was a Philistine, whom he married contrary to God's command and against his parents' counsel because she pleased his eyes. However, even before the end of the wedding feast she proved to be unfaithful, causing Samson to leave her temporarily. When he returned to her, she had already become another man's wife and was later killed by the Philistines.
Samson's ill-fated marriage to a Philistine
»Then his father and mother said to him: “Is there not among the daughters of your brothers or in all my people a woman for you to go and take a wife from the uncircumcised Philistines?” And Samson said to his father: “Bring her to me, for she pleases me well.” If there is a subject that should be considered with calm reason and dispassionate judgment, it is the subject of marriage.«
The Unfaithfulness and Fate of Samson's Wife
»At his wedding feast Samson came into familiar contact with those who hated the God of Israel... The woman whose acquisition caused Samson to transgress God's command proved, even before the end of the wedding feast, to be unfaithful to her husband. Furious at her deceit, Samson left her for a time and went alone to his home in Zorah. When he later relented and returned to fetch his bride, he found her as another man's wife. His revenge, in which all the fields and vineyards of the Philistines were devastated, caused them to murder her, although her threats had driven her to the betrayal that began the disaster.«
