Ellen Gould White über: "Ellen White on Romans 8:3"
Answer
Ellen White explains that the fleshly heart cannot be subjected to God's law, which underscores the need for spiritual renewal. Through faith in Christ's merits we become partakers of the divine nature, bringing the heart into harmony with the law. This transformation leads the believer, like Christ, to find joy in doing God's will.
The Transformation of the Fleshly Heart
Repentance toward God for our failure to keep His law is the first step in the Christian life, while faith in our Lord Jesus Christ claims the merits of His blood for the remission of past sins and makes us partakers of the divine nature. The fleshly heart, which “is not subject to God's law and cannot be,” is made spiritual and, together with Christ, declares: “I rejoice in doing Your will, O my God; yes, Your law is in my heart.”
God's claims are the same. The principles of His government are the same. For all proceed from Him, “in whom there is no change, nor a shadow of turning.”
A correct faith will manifest itself in godly works and bring the entire life into harmony with God's law. Faith and works must go hand in hand.
- Fleshly Heart and Law
- Partakers of the Divine Nature
- Harmony with God's Law
