Adventistische Schriften über: "Ellen White on 2 Corinthians, Weakness, Comfort and Reconciliation"

Answer

Ellen White emphasizes in her writings that weakness is not seen as an obstacle, but as an opportunity for divine strength, especially in faith in God's comfort and reconciliation. She calls on us to remain in weakness, for there the strength of Christ becomes visible, and we should serve others in their experience of this comfort and reconciliation. The community of believers who endure weakness and difficulties is a sign of divine power and love that holds us together and helps us to comfort others.

Weakness as a Source of Divine Strength

»In the darkest days, when appearances are so frightening, do not fear. Trust in God. He works according to His will, does everything well in the name of His children. The strength of those who love and serve Him is renewed day by day. His understanding will be their service, so that they do not err in carrying out His intentions. There is no melancholy in God's service. Our faith must endure the pressure that acts upon it. God is able and willing to grant all His servants the strength they need. He will fulfill the highest expectations of those who trust in Him more than enough. He will give them the wisdom that their various needs require. Said the tested Apostle Paul: "He said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." I will rather gladly boast about my weaknesses, about insults, about hardships, about persecutions, about difficulties for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong." O you brothers, hold fast to the beginning of your faith until the end. The light of God's truth will not be extinguished. It should shine amidst the darkness of the erroneous judgments that surround our world. God's word should be opened to the highest of the earth, and also to those in more humble circumstances.«

Helping Weak Souls

»There are many who err and feel ashamed of their drops. They consider their mistakes and errors until they are almost driven to despair. These souls we must not neglect. If someone has to swim against the current, the power of the current will drive him back. Then reach out a helping hand, as the younger brother did, to save the sinking Peter. Speak comforting words to him... Your brother, sick in spirit, needs you, as you yourself have needed brothers. He needs the experience of one who was as weak as he, one who can look on with him and help him. The knowledge of our own weakness should help us to support another in his need. Should we never pass by without sharing the comfort we ourselves have received from God. It is fellowship with Christ, personal contact with a living Savior, who gives victory over the low nature to the spirit, heart and soul. Say to the wanderer from an almighty hand that upholds him, from an infinite humanity in Christ that regards him with compassion. It is not enough that he believes in law and force, in things that carry no compassion and never hear the cry for help. He needs the hand that is warm to cling to, on a tender, affectionate heart to trust. Let him think of a father's hand that always embraces him, of a father's hand that always reaches out, of a father's voice that speaks to him: "Take the seas into my power, and reconcile yourself with me...«

Comfort in Suffering and Reconciliation

»Maria, dear precious child, is at rest. She was the companion of your sorrows and disappointed hopes. She will never again have harm, lack or need. Through the eye of clear faith you can foresee that she will rise from the lost of the earth, emerge from her captive house, triumph over death and the grave. Your faith can see the beloved and lost finding again among the redeemed. You will also walk the streets of the New Jerusalem, sing the song of Moses and the Lamb, wear the crowned... "All things work together for good to those who love God" (). Could you open your eyes, you would see how your heavenly Father loves you; and if you had heard His word, it would be in tones of mercy to you, the bowed down with suffering and bonds. Stand fast in His strength; there is rest for you. He who comforts us in all our tribulations, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, through the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. Those who have carried the greatest suffering often carry the greatest comfort for others, bring sunshine wherever they go. Such are harvested from great sorrows and sweetened; they have not lost trust in God when evil came upon them, but cling closer to His protective love. Such are living proof of God's tender care, who also makes darkness as well as light and surrounds us because of His favor. Christ is the light of the world; in Him there is no darkness. Precious light! Let us live in this light! Leave sadness and gloom. Rejoice always in the Lord!«

Community as a Sign of Divine Reconciliation

»"And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and the word being confirmed with signs that followed." Our will must be subordinated to God's will. O, we are so inclined to exclude God from our plans. He orchestrates things according to the purpose of His will. He will glorify His holy name when we only give Him room to work through him, whichever He will. Do not think that I am censoring you. No, I want to show you that everything is seen in an unselfish, clear light. Then you will stop considering wearisome things, and will watch and pray, trusting and receiving God at His word. – , S. 1, 2. (To Brother and Sister Haskell, December 29, 1901.) I saw that you find rest by looking to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith. When you look at him, marvel how powerful he is to save. Your laws afflicted by the wind were renewed, your weakest strength was restored, your step regained its elasticity; you feel ready for any emergency, ready for any danger. You went forth in your service confidently, with a radiant face and a warm, joyful heart. You no longer spoke in melancholic, lamenting tones. You had full faith in God, and you expressed your faith in such words as these: "God is our refuge and strength; a present help in trouble." "My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in my Helper, God." - (To Aldster E. E. Franke, May 23, 1902.) I received such a good letter from Sister Haskell, about the removal of estrangement between Brother Haskell and Brother Franke. O how I was grateful! I know how the enemy rejoices when he can fill the hearts of those who serve God with mistrust and suspicion. And even more: A unity among God's disciples is a sign that the Father sent His Son to save sinners. It is a testimony of His power; for nothing other than the wonderful power of God can bring people into harmonious coexistence, having one goal, speaking the truth in love.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
