What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "Does repentance, besides remorse over sins, also include daily heart conversion and the striving not to sin any longer?"
Answer
True repentance involves far more than merely regretting the consequences of missteps; it includes a deep remorse for the sin itself and a decisive turning away from it. A genuine change in life occurs only when the heart recognizes the sinfulness and, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, consciously turns away from it. This heart conversion leads to hating the things one once loved and actively striving to live in accordance with God’s will.
The Nature of True Repentance
»Repentance includes sorrow over the sin and turning away from it. We will not renounce sin as long as we do not see its sinfulness; as long as we do not turn away from it in our hearts, there will be no real change in life.«
Distinguishing Between True and False Repentance
»True repentance is more than sorrow over sin. It is a decisive turning away from evil. ... People mourned because their sins had brought suffering upon themselves, but not because they had dishonored God by transgressing His holy law.«
Fruits of Conversion and Reformation
»There is no proof of genuine repentance unless it produces reformation. When he returns the pledge, gives back what he has stolen, confesses his sins, and loves God and his fellow humans, the sinner can be sure that he has moved from death to life.«
True Conversion Requires Abandoning Sin
»There can be no true conversion without the sin being abandoned... Tears, sighs, resolutions— all of this is merely the proper exercise of the abilities God has given to man, and the turning away from sin in the improvement of a life that belongs to God.«
The Transforming Power of the Holy Spirit
»True sorrow over sin is the result of the work of the Holy Spirit. ... Such sorrow will lead to turning away from sin. ... The tears of the repentant are only the raindrops that precede the sunshine of holiness.«

Why I built EGW Vision
Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.
EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.
My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
