Adventistische Schriften über: "Does God kill?"

Answer

According to Adventist writings, God ultimately destroys sinners and deprives them of life, because it is incompatible with His justice and mercy to preserve sinners eternally in their sins. In biblical history, God directly brought about judgments such as the Flood or the judgment over Sodom, or ordered punishments by divine authority. In the final judgment of the ungodly, those who reject His grace are permanently eradicated by the second death and cease to exist.

God deprives the sinner of existence in the final judgment

»Out of mercy toward the world, God erased its godless inhabitants at the time of Noah. Out of mercy He destroyed the corrupt inhabitants of Sodom. [...] It is out of mercy toward the universe that God will ultimately destroy those who reject His grace. [...] Since it is impossible for God, in accordance with His justice and mercy, to save the sinner in his sins, He deprives him of existence, which his transgressions have forfeited and for which he has proven himself unworthy.«

God's decision to destroy before the Flood

»The world was in its infancy; yet injustice was so deep and widespread that God could no longer endure it; and He said, “I will wipe out the people I have created from the face of the earth.” He declared that His Spirit should not forever contend with the guilty race. If they did not cease to defile the world and its rich treasures with their sins, He would erase them from His creation...«

God's ability to destroy body and future life

»The human can kill the body or destroy this present life; but he cannot cause destruction beyond that. God, however, is not only capable of killing the body or destroying the present life, but He can cast into Gehenna or destroy the life we may have beyond the resurrection. [...] Rather, fear the One who is capable of destroying the body and putting an end to all future life in hell.«

Execution of punishments under God's direct instruction in the Old Covenant

»In the earlier administration, sins against God were indeed met with temporal punishments, but the executed judgments were not only with divine approval, they were under His direct control and command. Sorcerers were to be put to death. Idolaters were to be slain. [...] Yet the imposition of these punishments was guided by Him who reads the hearts of people, who knows the measure of their guilt, and who deals with His creatures in wisdom and mercy.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
