What does Ellen White write about...
Adventistische Schriften über: "Do people become angry when they are confronted with God's judgment and the truth?"
Answer
When people are confronted with clear, condemning truths or God's judgment, they often react with anger, bitterness, and resistance. This displeasure frequently arises because the divine truth conflicts with their sinful habits, their pride, or their fleshly desires. Instead of repenting, many are tempted by Satan to hate the messengers of the message or to reject the truth as a lie.
Anger over the cutting truth at Stephen
»The high priests and the council members were enraged when the clear, cutting truths were spoken; and they rushed upon Stephen. ... The people would not listen to him. They shouted loudly, covered their ears, rose together against him, drove him out of the city, and stoned him.«
The crowd's wrath against the words of Jesus
»Often, when Jesus spoke a cutting truth that rebuked their sins, the crowd became angry. Satan and his angels incited them to take the life of the Son of God. More than once they lifted stones to throw at him... Another time, when the clear truth fell from his holy lips, the crowd seized him and led him to the edge of a mountain, intending to push him down.«
Indignation against God's threatening punishments
»In the sinner's heart, indignation often erupts against the messenger God has chosen to deliver His rebuke. It has always been so, and the same spirit exists today that persecuted and harassed Jeremiah because he obeyed the word of the Lord.«
The ungodly's anger over the final warning
»The power that accompanies the final warning has enraged the ungodly; their anger has flared against all who have accepted the message, and Satan will incite the spirit of hatred and persecution to an even greater intensity.«
Bitterness in the face of divine judgment
»Just as Satan, many people hurled insults against God, and had they been able, they would have torn Him from His throne of power. ... Although they acknowledged their sin out of fear of punishment, they felt no true repentance, no abhorrence of evil. They would have returned to their defiance against heaven if the judgment had been removed.«
Rejection of the truth because of fleshly desires
»There are many who would accept the truths from God's Word, as their judgment has been convinced by the clearest evidence; but fleshly desires that seek satisfaction dominate the mind, and they reject the truth as a lie because it conflicts with their lustful inclinations.«
