Adventistische Schriften über: "Divine Service"

Answer

True worship requires an attitude of solemn reverence, recognizing the presence of God and angels. Conduct in the house of God should be marked by silence, prayer, and attention to the Word, avoiding all worldly distraction. Singing and prayer are acts of adoration just as essential as preaching, preparing believers for heavenly worship. Sabbath meetings, even with few participants, benefit from the promise of Christ's presence.

Reverence and Solemnity in Worship

»When the minister enters, it should be with a dignified and solemn bearing. He should bow in silent prayer as soon as he ascends the pulpit and earnestly ask for God's help. What an impression this will make! There will be solemnity and awe among the people. Their minister communes with God; he commits himself to God before daring to stand before the people. Solemnity rests upon all, and the angels of God are brought very near. Each one in the assembly who fears God should also, with bowed head, unite in silent prayer with him that God may deign to bless the meeting with His presence and give power to His truth proclaimed by human lips.«

Singing as an Act of Adoration

»Singing, as part of the religious service, is just as much an act of adoration as prayer. The heart must feel the spirit of the song to give it the right expression. [...] Indeed, many songs are prayers. If the child is taught to realize this, he will think more about the meaning of the words he sings and will be more sensitive to their power.«

Conduct in the House of God

»When worshipers enter the meeting place, they should do so with decency, passing quietly to their seats. Common conversation, whispering, and laughter should not be permitted in the house of worship, either before or after the service. Ardent and active piety should characterize the worshipers.«

Sabbath Meetings and the Presence of Christ

»Wherever there are two or three believers, let them meet on the Sabbath to claim the Lord's promise. Small companies assembled to worship God on His holy day have the right to claim Jehovah's rich blessing. They should believe that the Lord Jesus is an honored guest in their assemblies.«

Holiness of the Place of Worship

»From the holiness attached to the earthly sanctuary, Christians can learn how they should regard the place where the Lord meets His people. [...] The house of God is often profaned, and the Sabbath violated by the children of Sabbath observers. In some cases, they are even allowed to run in the house, play, talk, and manifest their bad characters in the very meetings where the saints should worship God in the beauty of holiness.«

Prayer and Adoration Essential to Spiritual Growth

»Family or public prayer alone is not enough. Secret prayer is very important; in solitude, the soul is laid bare before God's inspecting eye, and every motive is examined. [...] Private prayer, family prayer, prayer in public assemblies for the worship of God—all are essential. And we must live our prayers. We must cooperate with Christ in His work.«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
