Adventistische Schriften über: "Difference between human and divine logic"
Answer
The essential difference between human and divine logic lies in the limited nature of the human mind versus the infinity of God. While man judges by finite standards, God's thoughts and ways are far higher than human ones, as the heavens are above the earth. Without the help of the Holy Spirit and the light of revelation, human thinking often leads to error and a false interpretation of creation.
Divine supremacy over human limitation
We neither understand the greatness and majesty of God, nor do we contemplate the immeasurable distance between the Creator and the creatures formed by His hand. He, who reigns in heaven and wields the scepter of the universe, does not judge by our limited measure and does not calculate by our reckoning. We are in error when we think that what is great for us must also be great for God, and that what is small for us must be small for Him.
The gap between divine and human thoughts
There is a danger that people will accept the counsel of humans and thereby reject the counsel of God. Oh, what lessons all must learn before they understand that God does not see as man sees. The Lord says: “My thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways... For as the heaven is higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
The fallibility of purely human reason
Man is finite; in his wisdom there is no light. His sole reason cannot explain the deep things of God, nor can he understand the spiritual lessons that God has placed in the material world. Yet reason is a gift of God, and His Spirit will help those who are ready to be taught. The words of man, insofar as they are of value, reflect the words of God.
The limits of science without revelation
God has allowed that through discoveries in science and art a flood of light has been poured over the world; but when supposedly scientific men judge these topics from a purely human perspective, they will surely err. The greatest minds, if not guided by the Word of God, become confused in their attempts to examine the relationship between science and revelation.
God's wisdom vs. worldly wisdom
For God's folly is wiser than that of men; and God's weakness is stronger than that of men... but God has chosen the foolishness of the world to shame the wise; and God has chosen the weakness of the world to shame the strong... so that no flesh may boast before Him.
The necessity of humility before God
When we come to the Bible, reason must acknowledge an authority that stands above itself, and heart and mind must bow before the great I AM... We must guard against a deification of reason, which is subject to the weakness and frailty of humanity.
- Divine wisdom human reason
- Limitation of the human mind
- God's ways vs. human ways
