What does Ellen White write about...

Adventistische Schriften über: "Did Zechariah perform the service at the incense altar when the angel Gabriel appeared?"

Answer

Yes, Zechariah was indeed performing the service at the incense altar when the angel Gabriel appeared to him. He had been chosen by lot to bring the incense offering in the Lord's temple while the crowd outside was praying.

The angel appeared to him on the right side of the incense altar to announce the birth of his son John.

The Appearance of Gabriel at the Incense Altar

»And it happened, while he was performing the priestly service before God in the order of his division, that by the custom of the priestly office the lot fell to him to bring the incense, as he entered the Lord's temple. And the whole multitude of the people prayed outside at the hour of incense. And an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing on the right side of the incense altar.«

»Zacharias waited until he saw the incense begin to burn. Then he too would have bowed down in worship and withdrawn reverently, had it not been for a marvelous sight that halted his steps. On the right (or southern) side of the altar, between it and the golden lampstand, stood something that he could only recognize as an angelic figure... No wonder Zacharias was disturbed and fear seized him when he suddenly—probably shortly after he had spread the incense on the altar and was about to utter his farewell prayer—saw what he later recognized as the angel Gabriel (the power of God).«

Why I built EGW Vision

Hello, I am Stephan Krol. I started this Ellen White website to make the writings of Ellen G. White and the Adventist pioneers easier to access for everyone.

EGW Vision helps you find topics, statements, and quotes faster, especially when many original sources are not yet fully available in your language. The tool searches semantically, groups relevant content by topic, and presents matching results as clearly as possible in your language.

My hope is that this tool supports personal Bible study, strengthens trust in the original sources, and helps more people discover the message of these writings with clarity, depth, and joy.
